Well what can I say, no trouble getting to Perth for the HOG National, turned right out of my place just like the map said and all the towns were where they should have been, did the tourist thing and took photos at the Bight ect.

Limo.jpg (96519 bytes)Had a ball at the rally with fantastic food and great camping facilities [ they even removed all the speed humps at the site for us ] the only crook thing was the cancellation of the drag races on the second day due to a last minute pull out by the insurance mob, the rolling thunder was down to Fremantle and well organised with some 600 bikes and the gymkhana was held in one of the nicest tree surrounded settings that I have seen for a while, the bands were just right for our tastes and on the last night Kevin Bloody Wilson dropped by to say "G'day" and got up on stage to do an impromptu couple of numbers from his upcoming Canadian tour [ had the crowd in stitches with his song " you can't say cunt in Canada".] we all helped with the chorus which is the same as the title, he seems to think that seeing as we liked it that it should go real well on his show, I hope the Canadians are as politically incorrect as we were.

So after a really good time at the rally I prepared to depart for home, and that is when I fucked up, I amRoad signs.jpg (89020 bytes) inclined to blame the difference in time zones and the sun setting over the ocean for the fact that unknowingly I had my so far reliable map upside down, so pointing the bike towards what I thought was Denman in NSW I in fact ended up in Denham in W.A., I only noticed something was wrong when I rode off the edge of Australia [ Denham being the furthest town west that you go to ] and tasting the salt in the water figured it was not as I had thought whilst approaching it "just a rather large shallow floodway". After the initial laughter had died down the locals helped me get the bike out and as I turned my map upside down to empty the water out it suddenly became right way up, and that was when I grasped the true extent of my fuckup, not wishing to bring ill repute to the Wildcats by revealing that I was going in the wrong direction home I decided to bluff it out by continuing on around the long way over the top [ I don't think they sussed ]

roadside_barby.jpg (65509 bytes)The trip home was a ball through some spectacular country and although a bit hot in places the thing that I liked best about it was because there were no cops out there to see me. I managed to do most of WA and nearly all the NT without a helmet on [oh for the good old days]. There was only one place that was not a pleasure to be in and that was at Warnum [Turkey creek] between Halls Creek and Kununurra in the NT, the manager and his staff could have fitted into "Deliverance" without any trouble. I came close to skull dragging the bastard over his counter and stomping on him during an argument with him about the amount of 'fucking me about' that he tried to do, what with wanting payment before getting petrol and the pump not working when I finally gave them my credit card to hold as security that I was going to pay, and all this as it was getting dark and I still had 150 klicks to go, not to mention that he wanted $1-28 a litre for fuel, 15 cents a litre dearer than the roadhouses at Halls Creek andStoned.jpg (75343 bytes) Kununurra, in the end I got 3 litres and when he said you won't get to the next roadhouse on that I told him to bang the rest of his fuel up his arse seeing as I was carrying spare fuel in a can and would use that instead of his, It would appear that it was not just me because a few other people including car drivers had hassles as well, so if you can, carry fuel enough to do 360 klicks go right past this bastard at Turkey Creek "Turkey" being the operative word. Aside from that met and rode with good people and had a great run..
