Well, it’s one for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready, Now go, cat, go...................
And if you didn't go....well you missed out! What a party! AMC Slopes and Plains
take a bow. Tell you what people.....Put it on the calendar for next year now.
Hell...even give tickets to it as Christmas pressies...no matter what you have
to do, do not miss it next time!
Australia Day falling on the Thursday meant it was a simple sickie for Friday and a long weekend was created in the great Australian tradition. AMC members enjoyed the privilege of paying a measly $20 a night to stay in the best location in town, and with that they got a full cooked breaky thrown in complete with double yolker cackleberries. A great start to any day. Extraordinary the lengths that were taken by Slopes and Plains to make fellow members feel welcome!
A short stroll down the main street and all your aural senses were tantalized and sometimes abused by all the buskers that lined it. Some sensational....some bloody abysmal! But all of them giving you a smile on the dial. Entertainment abounded absolutely everywhere and there was no need to put your hand in your pocket other than drinks and eats. Want to go upmarket? (Dunno why really) Well you can very reasonably. Great concerts were about $30 a ticket. Cheap by any standards. And then at the end of a jaunt round the town, back to the shed for a cold one with friends and relax to get ready to hit the town again that night.
One of the highlights of the Festival was the Casey Chambers
Concert in the park. FOR FREE! Ok, by now you are bruising yourself severely for
missing out. The pain will get worse cause the weekend got better....if that's
possible.

Saturday arrived and The Rebels put on a poker run. Their arrival had been announced the day before with a quick blatt down Peel Street. Someone musta left the barricades open by mistake and the poor guys got a bit lost, which ended up making the day for many people who enjoyed the harmless, but fun spectacle. A bit of that Harley rumble turned everyone's heads and had people racing out of shops and lining the footpaths to have a look. Other than the boys in blue's having to explain to their partners how their pants turned brown, no harm was done. Rebels 1 Police 0

We all met up at Ride Cycles, one of the many sponsors and from there rode to Nundle where we enjoyed a few quiet ales and the usual telling of tall tales. Then on to Bendemeer where a B-B-Q was waiting with melt in the mouth steaks. What was obvious by this time though, was the overkill by the police. How much did they spend following us around? What an awful waste or our money! Highway Patrol cars, unmarked cars, paddy wagons and a couple of them on bikes. For what? Far as I know it was an incident free run, within the legal limits and well run all in aid of charity. There were even 2 patrol cars on the side of the road at Moonbi wasting ink writing down numberplates. Hard to believe they are screaming out saying they are under resourced when they can waste time, money and manpower for no good reason. Get them back to real policing instead of revenue raising. The lot we saw probably didn't pass the exam for being parking ticket inspectors. Rebels 2 Police 0

Then down the highway, a right turn and into the back of town and back to the Rebels Clubhouse for a few more quiet ones. We stopped along the way for personal reasons and the poor cops did their pants again. They woulda been conjuring up fantasy figments of their limited imagination (ie: shitting their pants again) trying to figure out what was next. What was scary was one patrol car weaving in and out of the bikes. Dangerous, uncalled for and unnecessary. An incredibly stupid thing to do. Seemed every intersection into town had a police vehicle on it. What it did do though was give us all a good laugh. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot whilst it is in your mouth. Considering how it was handled by the Gubberment forces, due credit has to be given to the sensible, no nonsense approach, shown by the organisers. All sorts of rumours abounded as to an en-mass arrival of Rebels etc etc...Take a bow guys. They arrived in town in dribs and drabs in the main. They were polite and well mannered and weren't looking for trouble. Paid their bills and entertained us and were the best of hosts. Anyone who encountered a Rebel this weekend has only good words to say. Well done, well played gentlemen. Strrrrrrrrrrrrikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 3.
Anyway, Tamworth Country Music Festival was amazing. Talent quests, bush poets, comedians and a huge array of entertainers, you name it and they were there. Sunday was the last day of the Festival. Most packed up and headed home tired but happy and working out ways to get back for next year!!!!!!! Ya just gotta love a good party! AMC Slopes and Plains....prepare yourself for huge numbers next year.....the secret is out!
......................ya think it's time to go home bro?...
.................................................................Yesterday is
dead and gone, And tomorrow’s out of sight, And it’s sad to be alone, Help me
make it through the night
I don’t want to be alone, Help me make it through the night

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
