Well Farbio and Dredgy got back from their Eastern Asian drinking and shopping jaunt arriving in on the Friday morning after being in cattle class since about 11am the day before. Off to Frazer's they went and took delivery of a brand new Ducati 748 that Farbio will race next season. First it has a trip to Western Australia to Vee Two to get the motor worked over and then back to be painted and clad in full race trim. The Honda he's racing now is going back to street legal. Blinkers back on, original flares, guards etc and the tank repainted and no-one will be able to tell it isn't standard...........kinda. Bit of a sleeper!

What an eye opener to walk into the pits and there they were. No less than 6 bikes in team colours. 4 Ducatis, Mick's R6 looking spick and Farbio's Honda! Even the step-thru in team colours, making it a very memorable sight indeed! Give any red blooded biker a stir in loins!

Alas, turn 2 at the Creek played it's usual trick on the team in the first race of the day! Rod went out hard and it was hairs up on the back of the neck type stuff to see 3 Vee Two bikes near the front and racing together going hammer and tongs. So pretty to watch! Alas, as we waited up on the observation deck for them to reappear from being out of sight, only 2 of them emerged. Rod, who was leading the team, put a tad too much power on and the back spat out and over it went skidding along on it's side. Unfortunately he took the high road on his way off and got slam dunked big time. Not pretty. The blood bus took him off to that place of white jackets and antiseptic smells. A very sore fella for a while to come! The party in the hospital grounds after wasn't a bad one though I hear......more to come later!

first lap going well....

2nd lap going better... 3rd lap........ 3rd time for the bike. 3 different riders!

Despite the bad start to the day, overall team results were pretty solid with John Macdonald leading the way winning  3  from 3 in his class. He had a blinder in his first race taking 3rd overall and the commentator (who it is rumoured, has a picture of John in his wallet) wasn't the only one, that thought he was unfairly treated in the grid positions for the next two races. With a best time of 1.41.404 he blew away plenty and proudly took the loot! Good stuff even if he did have brown skiddies at one stage. Mick Jolly was also putting in the long strides in that same first race and was holding a formable 4th overall and looking to improve on that, till they red flagged the event and had to rerun it. Was a tough call on him. He recovered later in the day to pull in a 2nd in class behind John which wasn't a bad 1-2 team result! Pulling a 1.42 his new bike, now realigned, looks set to take him up a scale or two!

Dredgy hammered away, and a 2nd and two 3rds had him looking hopeful in the points for the day, but a seal blew and the black flag came out (which of course he didn't see) and it meant that he had to do a huge one in the last race to take a trophy. Undaunted he jumped on John's bike and gave it his best shot, in what turned out to be one of the races of the day, track fighting wise. Rutty improved with every race and both of them had a ripper but the horses had bolted. Dredgy actually pulled a 1.43.49 on the loan bike and shaved 2 seconds of his so far best time for the outing. That same race, Rutty was finding better rubber made for more fun! Impressed us all with a few of his manoeuvres and a nail biting finish to hold off one serious contender right down to the line.

And how, you may well ask, did Farbio go? Well..........Hoke was back, last time the Honda was to go racing, was he nursing it? Miss Daisy was tapping his shoulder I think. To be fair though he didn't do all bad. He turned in a credible 1.51.204. He's improving with every outing. The stale grog was coming out in him early and the bike had a weight disadvantage from the gallons of water it had to carry in his attempts to rehydrate. Will be interesting to see how well the new bike suits him, or is that the other way round! hmmmmmmmm.

Would be remiss of me not to comment on the overall R B Imports series. One of Australia's most popular new classes of bike racing, they realized that many of Australia's premier riders come through this class, and as a consequence they sponsored the NSW 400 Series. First prize was a racing bike no less!  and and the Bankstown Wiley Park Motorcycle Club are to be congratulated on organising it all! A terrific job! Next year they are planing on 5 races, 3 at Wakefield Park and 2 at Eastern Creek. Rounds 1 & 2 in March and April will be sprint races at Wakefield Park, Round 3 at Eastern Creek a Clubman 6our Relay in June and Round 4 a Clubman 5our at Wakefield Park in July. Finishing off with sprint races at Eastern Creek in October. They also plan a new class for over 3 year old 600s, rules yet to be finalised. Good stuff!

Oh, and the winner of the Pit Crew Award for the season is none other than Holly Jolly! Why you may well ask? That's easy, cause she said so! and who are we to argue? (Anyway, she promised us a pic of her modelling on Mick's new bike.....that kinda clinched the deal!!!!!!) Actually thoroughly deserved!! She hasn't missed a race day all year and it wouldn't be the same without her there!

Will post pics of the weekend soon as I get them! Unfortunately they are in the hands of the censor at the moment! ie: Farbio has my camera!

Talk of one more team outing for the year, but nothing finalised just yet. Here's hoping!

By the way, don't forget that all times of all riders are available on the net at the AMB site!
