Well off we went to the party. We kicked off a bit early with a birthday bash with Gina on the Thursday night and a good one it was too! Hit the link to check it out!

Friday saw us on site for the private HOG night. A couple of us rode out to come back in with the Blacktown Chapter on a bit of a thunder ride. Bout 300 bikes made their way in down the freeway to Homebush Bay. The gates opened on time and the HOGs poured in. We got our pins and headed to the bar and food stalls while being entertained by Rose Tattoo with Angry. Willy G said a few things along with the rest of the Harley lot and well, as usual we just settled in. Pity it was so hard getting a drink but we made up for it later. Was good to catch up with people all through the night.

gathering of the troops

Angry getting angry

a desperate duo!

and I thought Kaz liked him for his personality!

now there's a happy chappy!

Saturday arrived and in we went. The Dome at the Showground was packed full of bikes, history, theatre, clothing, even part of the production line and just about everything else you could think of relating to the marque.  The bikes in there generally depicting the model changes. Off that was another display that was made up of everything antique and customs of every type. The pics below tell only part of it! All the bikes with the under them belong to Alex Vella. Just seeing a part of his collections alone was worth the trip! Thanks for sharing an amazing display! I was told that out of all the bikes on display there, and there were over 300, all but 3 bikes were Aussie residents. Unreal!

Sad start to the Saturday was finding that a mates bike and 2 others had been stolen from outside of where we were staying and apparently at least 8 bikes got taken on the day. Word was out that 2 people were killed on their way to the show too.

But the show must go on! And it did for the next two days. The list of entertainment was long and included the following. Vendors stalls sold and promoted heaps of stuff and Little Mick and Daniel Farmer kept up half hour displays of their airbrush work. Purty cool! The Amphitheatre had a guy cooking and entertaining with some weird biker recipes and also a show called Chrome. Hard to explain but was pretty good too, high energy tap dancing with an H-D twist.

Guy named Richard Kent, 11th in da world for trial bike riding showed us a bit and then a guy on a Buell did the right thing and burnt out a new tire on the hour every hour doing stunts. Every now and then the drag bike guys would start one up. Had to be there to appreciate the sound they made. Thought they'd break the windows of one of the pavilions at one stage.

Kids were catered for all the way and the little ones even had some electric bikes to steer round and bash into each other.

Over all the entertainment on stage was pretty good. Rynstaad played a few as did Junkatique  and then on came Killing Heidi and the Sat finished with INXS.

well it was here last night!

Happy birthday!

an amazing display!

well, least they got the keys I 'spose!

now that's what I call a trike!

Elvismobile!

now that is Attitudeeee!

pity they don't make accessories like that anymore!

nice one!

burn baby burn!

blow baby blow!

Yothu a yothuin!

Jimmy a screamin!

Sunday was more of the same but this time we were entertained by Venessa Amorosi, Yothu Yindi and Jimmy Barnes. Neva been a YY fan but won't laugh no more at anyone who is. Those guys sounded terrific live! Like a breath of fresh air to have some real Aussie input into all the Yank razzamabullshittaz! Jimmy finished on a couple of good ones and that was it. Show was over!

Was it worth it? Yeh, glad I went but I got plenty of gripes. Like fair dinkum, I have never lined up for so long at any function anywhere for a drink, and when we got it hadda pay an arm and a left ball for it! And fair dinkum, where were the camp grounds, the usual HOG affair with SECURE parking? And fair dinkum, why are they cancelling the rest of the rallies for that? They still all going in the USA and elsewhere! And fair dinkum!!!!!!!! WillyG and family and factory......we love ya product despite it's many failings, but wouldn't it have been nice to say thanks for making it possible people of Australia! Wouldn't it have been nice to say it's a privilege to have ridden this far with you all! Instead of that yank bullshit tellin us what to do and how fuckin good you are!!!!! Bloody insulting  factory written speeches, and the crowd treated them with the disdain they disserved!

But yeh, ok, hope to see you all at the next one! Cheers!
