I must say up front though there were a lot of people that missed out because of apparent number restraints. Organisers of any of these rallies surely by now have enough experience to sort that out. Plenty went anyway that weren't registered, me included, but the ranks were thin of regulars from years gone by. When it says so many or the closing date, it should mean that ALL those that are register prior to that date are accepted, and even then, some leniency thrown in. Anyway, on with the show...................

Gina's Diary on her run south to the rally. She always makes you smile.

Tues 24th April

Left Forster and headed to Sydney

WET WET WET. Caught up with Duds and Lloyd at Blacktown H/Davidson. We took a quick trip to Bike warehouse at Parramatta. Bought a new set of wet weather gloves and rubber condoms for my lace up boots. The boys bought some stuff too and then off I went to meet up with some old friends at the Pennsville Inn and sink a few ales.

 Wed 25th ANZAC Day

Everyone met at the Hells Angels Poker Run. HOGs, AMC, Vets, Biker Australia and a few others I know. A few of us decided to do half the run and break away and head to Bathurst for the NSW State rally at Albury. Breaking away from the pack and I’m just following our group, and who should flash their lights and pull me over, or more like run me over, but some blue moo moos. Half an hour later and a couple of fines I was back on the road lost and left behind.

I found my way over the wet and foggy mountains. I couldn’t tell what kind of car I was following other than it had red taillights. The fog and the rain were unbelievable.

Thurs 26th

Next morning caught up with Ian from V-twin, Col from Coffs and Wagga from Port. We rode around Mt Panorama twice then Cowra Young Wagga and Albury. The skies open up. Nice ride. We all had our own cabins, some of us shared.

The rally site was one of the best. The cabins were first class. You could put your tent up or bring your own camper. We were all camped together.

As a lot of us got there a day early, let the party begin! Straight to the bar on site overlooking Lake Hume. We ate, drank and sang to karaoke. The more we drank the better everyone sounded (I think?)

 Fri 27th

While most of the people were still turning up we went for a ride to Beechworth. Ned Kelly country. Well what can I say but, what a beautiful place! For all you true Australians out there this is a place you must travel and see. There is a museum, courthouse, Goal, Police stables and the stone lockup where Ned and his mother got locked up together. Even if you’re not a drinker the pubs are a must to look in. Each has it’s own character from Ned’s armour to stuffed animals. Even the people looked like they were Ned’s cousins!

Back to the rally site. Talked and met new and old friends. I cooked the boys my apricot chicken and went down for my BBQ. We danced and partied all night. Walking back to my cabin took a long time as many parties were going off in most cabins. I tried not to miss much. Caught some men washing up. Not sure what the pig on the head was but enjoyed most of it.

 Sat 28th

Thunder Run assembled at Weir Wall and went to Wodonga out to the Three Monkeys Tavern. Great Thunder Run with at least 12 – 1500 bikes. Show and Shine was great, some really nice girl bikes

We returned to the site for the Chapter Challenge & Gymkhana. Thank God it didn’t rain. The ground was clay and muddy but not too bad. As the only Gold Coast member I thought I should do what I can. I won the Lady’s Slow Race and came third in the Barrel Race. Broadmeadow Girls won the tug of war and Ozbikers won the men’s.

We all cleaned up ready for the dinner, presentations and band. Buses were supplied to take us to the Kinross Woolshed. BBQ was served the presentations. First were the Show and Shine and what great trophies they were. There was a bit of a blue on who won the Chapter Challenge but it got sorted out. There were no Gymkana Trophies so I missed out on a Ned Head. Not having a big night as I have a 10 hour ride home tomorrow. Back to my cabin.

 Sun 29th

On the road at 7am. No rain. Great trip. Great rally. Great people. Thanks to Milton, Blinkers, Wagga Wagga Chapter and all involved in the NSW State Rally “Run to the Boarder” Ned Kelly Country
