Saturday morning on the 9th of October, I met up with Cruisy and Angel at the Denman pub to head up to Nundle to join the other girls and their friends and partners for the Ducati Clubs annual Thunder Rally which raises funds for the Spinal Unit at North Shore.

Not ever having been to one before and knowing in advance this was a real ‘back to basics’ type rally I wasn’t sure what to expect. Now all you that know me, know what a hopeless camper I am…so armed with an ‘easy erect’ tent…guaranteed to go up in 10 seconds…off I went on my first rally without Crusty.

We had a great ride down the Nundle road and arriving at the pub before the others we ordered lunch and a beer and settled in to wait.  The company was great, we made some new friends and I found some old ones I had misplaced some where down the years.  After the rest of our group arrived and had lunch we headed up to Sheba Dam.

Getting back to that ‘easy erect’ tent, it didn’t go up in 10 seconds but 10 minutes had the tent up the swag unrolled the pillow plumped and the first wine half drunk.  I was stoked and Cruisy was trying to put a hit out on me so she could inherit my tent. Friends aye?

There were fires dotted all around the camping area so we headed out to find who was where and do a bit socialising, the ulterior motive was to find the best fire for the night ahead…cos…shit it was COLD!!!!

After the raffle drawing the awards were handed out…Just Girls got the best rally attendance trophy…go girls….and then it was party time åååååååå

A quick decision was made to have our own fire….so the girls went into overdrive and in no time at all we had heat and light…and a very very noisy camp. Visitors not bearing the gift of wood were repulsed…they all came back though, and what was the attraction I hear you ask?  It was the karaoke…being a ‘back to basics’ rally it was basic karaoke…no machine just wood banging, tin clanging and enthusiasm.  The sound of twenty or so of us singing ‘We will rock you’ brought visitors (and wood) in waves….we had a wood chucking competition which went on until the wee hours along with the karaoke and all in all a great time was had by all.  Around 2.30am the karaoke degenerated into the worst rendition of Jingle Bells I have ever had the misfortune to hear so on that high note I went to sleep.

A nice cruise back home the next morning finishing off with lunch and a beer back at the Denman pub saw the end of another great weekend.

 Cheers

 Kaz
