Sturgis 06 - the getting there

Well, Kaz and I had an absolute ball. We bought a couple of Jappa cruisers in California and started off from San Luis Obispo CA, we went via the Grand Teton Mountain Range and Yellowstone then headed across to Sturgis. Almost all the way riding in fantastic scenery and cruising on roads that just beg to be ridden on.

For the most part the police tend to ignore you as you cruise at about 20 klicks over the speed limit, so long as the traffic is flowing smoothly and safely, their attitude seems to be, “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, something our revenue grabbing authorities could well learn from.

At about 700 klicks from Sturgis we began passing thousands of bikes that were heading away from Sturgis, for the most part, the ones we chanced to talk to seemed to be people who had just done a quick visit there prior to the proper start of the rally, and were not interested in being there when it became full on.
