Wandering Walgett Wildcats 2005 Christmas Party

What a good time everyone had on the weekend of the 5th and 6th of August.

As usual we met up at the clubhouse for a heart starter. Shano proved that he could handle the barbie with Squarky being the chief chef. Lunch settled before we all left for Collarenebri around 3pm.

The scenery was dry, the wind was a bit gusty but a good ride just the same. We had a couple of stops before we hit the pub at Collarenebri. A few refreshing ales and then it was on to Mick James' camel retreat. Beds were chosen for the night in bunkhouse style accommodation.

Vote forms were handed out to those who hadn’t cast yet and raffle tickets were available. Lots of laughter, bribery and story telling were happening as the vote forms were being completed.

Around 7-30pm a camp oven dinner was served. The first course was pumpkin soup with damper. The second course was curry stew. There was beer sculling (or anything handy for that matter) while the curry was being consumed. The band provided quiet background music during dinner.

The winner of the raffle was Feral, who donated the DVD player to Boofy, as his place had been broken into the weekend before, and she already had 3.

But one of the best laughs for the night had to go to Shano courtesy of Santa. It seems that he won't be living down the Bourke trip for quite a while. Santa made a special presentation to him. When he unwrapped it, he was embarrassed to find the trophy had been made especially for him. Everyone had a good laugh at this one. We are unsure of who is missing a set of dentures. Shano knew that he didn't have to give this one back. The trophy will take up residence over the bar at the clubhouse.

The rustic venue brought out the cow boy/girl in us with the help of the homegrown entertainment and home made instruments. Squarky provided entertainment with karaoke style performances, not a bad style about him either. Finally the girls got to play some more modern music - Shania Twain. Nothing like a bit of pole dancing, Little Ted showed us his style. Amy had her girl’s night out the evening before and the BAD HAT really made the girls turn some tricks and a bit of Yea Ha (Over exposure).

A good time was had by all. The night finished around 4am when the last of the Wildcats hit the hay.

A good old country breakfast was provided. Not all participated due to the hangover factor. It was interesting to see that sort of damage Crownies can do.

We said goodbye to the Gunnedah/Tamworth/Walcha crew, who had came for the night.

Thanks to Mick and his crew, we all mounted up and headed back to the clubhouse.

No matter where the venue the Wildcats party wild and hard.
