After 18 months of red tape and some severe hurdles to climb over, the weekend finally arrived for The Witch Run.

Storms were hanging about and 3 inches of rain on Wednesday didn't help!

Big fog Thursday morning. Sun's up! Still damp underfoot but looking good for the next few days. It’s set up day Thursday and all went to plan. The site looking presentable.

Friday morn is brilliant sunshine. Best day for a week. Still a bit of chill in the air so we organized some fire drums for the lowlanders.

After lunch the gremlins started to creep in. Friday nites one man band has rugrat problems and can't show. The kegs start to play up(drink rum then)! It’s the rodeo's problem. The hot water’s on the blink! Check it out (it's full of spiders)  said the second plumber called to the job. Fixted in ten min's.

Friday night there music's playing. About 80 on site party on. Food's excellent. Good vibes  all round.

Saturday morning another top high country day. Not a cloud in the sky.  After breakfast some riders go to do the loop via Uralla. Others ride the mountain to Gingers and Long Flat.

We get buzzed by three ultralites at lunchtime and they take aerial photo's  and land in the back paddock to see what's going on.

More arrivals on sat arvo. Numbers are up to 200 plus and we start to think that it's going to work.  We might cover our costs.

Scotty Cox & Kerrie play good on sat afternoon. Saturady night band is lost! We find them in town just before dark.

Packing up early 2am Sunday morning we realise that it’s over & everybody's going home after breakfast.

Have we done enough will they come back? Only time will tell.

It’s on again next year on the 19th &20th February with added bike show & gymkhana events Saturday morning.

 See you there!

To add to that………….

A punters post mortem was held later and it was worked out that $5000 was raised for three local charities as well as the Westpac helicopter

As the first one is always a huge gamble (it could have fallen over) we now have the ammo to apply to the shire for funding to upgrade the venue facilities, the trust committee will now let us have the hall in wet weather.

Although the numbers were small, around 250, everybody seemed to have a good time. All issues were discussed at the post mortem and changes will be made to improve the problems  (crawl to walk--- walk to run)

A bike show and gymkhana events will be added next year to fill in Saturday morning till the bands start at 2pm.

The venue will be open on Friday 19th with bar and food available and breakfast Saturday morning. Two bands on Saturday.

Letters of appreciation have been sent to all parties for their help in getting the first one off the ground

Congratulations mountain men!!!! U done good!!!!
